New Stadiums in SLC

45+ events, new stadiums, hidden gem restaurant

Happy Tuesday Hive Members!

What a sunny weekend, I’ll take that weather everyday down here as long as the mountains get the snow they need.

As we all know the lack of storms down here does come with worse air quality, so stay safe and make sure to monitor our air quality here.

In this week’s Hive:

New Stadiums in SLC

A new bill was proposed to allow for multiple smaller stadiums to be built in the Fairpark area in west Salt Lake. This would be in addition to the MLB stadium that is set to be built in the same area in preparation for a baseball team potentially coming to Salt Lake.

According to the bill the minimum seat capacity of these additonal stadiums will be 18,000. To put that in perspective, we’re talking similar size to the Delta Center.

This will also prohibit stadiums to be owned by universities. In total, $900 million in tax increments has been committed to building up the area including the baseball stadium.

It will take time, but sounds like even more events will be hosted in Salt Lake!

Eat at a Hidden Gem

If you walk into the Bodega restaurant, in the back you’ll see a door. Ask the person if there is room downstairs (I recommend making a reservation).

You’ll be led down a small zig zagging staircase to a wooden door. Smooth jazz music, a light smokey aroma, and low cabin lighting will greet you in this subterranean speakeasy.

The Rest

Entry to “The Rest”

Their small menu has unique and expertly curated cocktails along with a few apps and larger entrees.

The bartenders really know what they’re doing so my wife and I will often give them a base alcohol, a little idea of what we’re looking for, and we let them come up with something off menu.

This spot is great for a date night or if you just want to convince some friends that you have the keys to the city.
